Artist Statement
Painting gives voice to my belief of our connection to the natural world. Whether it is domestic or wild I speak about honest experiences with animals and nature. These experiences may inspire you, move you, touch you.
I work in acrylics as it, like nature, is versatile and adaptable to a variety of techniques. Loose washes are used to create atmosphere. Then thicker layers of paint are pushed around on the canvas building form. Attention to detail makes the subjects come alive. This approach with careful selection of colors make the painting sing.
By constantly exploring our natural environment I find new inspiration to express the power, wonder, beauty and sometimes humor of nature. We are all a part of the natural circle of life. Through my art I hope you connect to the voice of nature that resonates within you.
