"Gallopalooza - Louisville's Sidewalk Derby"
Getting ready for the parade!
In conjunction with the 130th running of the Kentucky Derby, the city of Louisville sponsored Gallopalooza. 219 artists from all over the country showed their creative genius in adorning life-size fiberglass horses. After the Derby Parade, the horses were placed around the city of Louisville. An October 2004 "horse" auction was scheduled to raise money for Brightside, Louisville's city beautification agency.
Lanie Frick's entry was the Sun Horse, a representation of the power of the sun in the spirit of the horse. The Sun Horse is on permanent display at Metzger's Country Store, Simpsonville, Kentucky. "We're thrilled to be able to host someone as well-known and gifted as Lanie," says Sue Metzger, co-owner.
